If you want to open a wedding and event venue like CHAMPAGNE RANCH in East Texas and kick it off with all guns blazing, you book a Whiskey Wedding. Yes, the first wedding at Champagne Ranch Weddings, Events & B+B was the She’s the Whiskey in My Teacup Wedding, and it was a double shot of creativity with a twist of whimsy. It does help that the power couple behind this wedding was none other than outside-the-box, envelope pushing CHAMPAGNE RANCH owners, Robert & Kristie Christensen…but we digress. Breaking traditional wedding paradigms became their wedding mission. And, from funky invitations to day-of BYOB libations, the proverbial mission was…ahem…accomplished.
From gate, they wanted guests to feel like family…like they were here to celebrate as a functioning part of the wedding party as opposed to a party-goer. So, what did they do? They assigned Champagne Ranch wedding staffers with tray-passed drinks to present guests with a signature bride and groom cocktail and invite them to find the table of their wedding guest dreams. That sounds fairly pedestrian, right? Well, it would have been…if not for the non-traditional wedding and reception combination set up. Rather than the prototypical herding of guests into rows or pews after being asked to choose sides (weddings should not be Hatfields & McCoys style), they were, instead, directed to choose any spot they wished at one of the beautifully adorned tables peppered amid the tree-hanging chandeliers and twinkle lights. And, let’s talk about the tables for a moment. We’re not talking votives and vases, here. Dripping in rustic opulence, these tables were layered with white cloths and lace and then iced with fur chargers, vintage mis-matched china, layers of mini cowhides, various vintage props and sitting atop oversized cedar slabs with pampas-filled vintage whiskey and wine bottles. Yes. EXTRA. It was EXTRA. In fact, their guests were so enamoured by the wedding design, that it inspired our RANCH & FAMOUS package, which is an all-inclusive curated wedding design package with all the bells and whistles. And the icing on the cake? The bride walked right down the middle of the tables and into the arms of her hubby-to-be as guests raised their glasses and toasted the impending I dos.
